The Clamcleat CL257 Auto-Release Racing Mini Aluminium Rope Cleat provides a smart, reliable way to secure a lifting rudder or centreboard while protecting your gear from impact damage. Designed for ropes from 4–6mm, this innovative cleat securely holds a rope under normal loads but releases instantly if the rudder blade or board strikes the bottom or a solid obstacle — preventing costly damage.
Once tripped, the CL257 can be reset in seconds by simply pushing the cleat back into its base. An adjustable cam allows you to fine-tune the release tension to match your boat size and sailing conditions: tight enough to hold securely under load, yet sensitive enough to release on impact.
